Operation Write Home!

Good day to all, I hope you have all had some time to enjoy the gorgeous weather we've had today! I do not have a special card to share right this second, but I wanted to take a minute to ask if you could please check out Erica's blog at Cricut Craft Room.  She is trying to gather 1000 cards for Operation Write Home.  She's got all the details, so recruit your friends to help, share on your Facebook page, Twitter, etc.  The more, the merrier!  Any way to show appreciation for the folks risking their lives and sacrificing so much for us is always a great gesture, and I'm sure they will appreciate it beyond words.  Oh, and while you're there...follow her blog and let her know Ricki sent you!  I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!  Be safe and enjoy the long weekend!

Summer's almost here! Yay!!!

Hello all, I am very proud to share my card I created for this week's challenge for Erica at Cricut Craft Room and announce that it was chosen as one of Mayra's favorites!  It was a summer theme and everyone knows how I LOVE summer so I felt this was a perfectly natural choice for me.
 I used:

Simply Charmed cartridge
Card paper: Bo Bunny
All other paper: DCWV stacks
Pop up dots under flower
Flower face was freehand using Marvy Le Plume markers

Thanks so much to Erica for all the work that she does, and all the wonderful challenges that actually challenge me to better myself and continue to spark my creativity!  She is about 350 friends away from randomly gifting a Cricut Cake Mini, so get over there and add her asap and be sure to let her know Ricki sent you!  Have a great day and I hope there's lots of sunshine where ever you are!
Til next time, Ricki

You're all so "berry" sweet!

Yes...yes I do realize that was an incredibly corny title, and yet somehow I just could not resist!  This card was made for Erica at Cricut Craft Room for one of her challenges last week.  If you still have not added her then Go!  Do IT NOW!  She is such a wealth of knowledge, and I feel so fortunate to have found her.  As a bonus, when she reaches 1000 followers she is giving away a Cricut Cake Mini!!!  Be sure to let her know that Ricki sent you!  Anywhoo, we were to design a project using the feature buttons ONLY from any cartridge.  Sounds easy but it's harder than you think!

I used:
DCWV Stack in Neutrals
Bazzill cardstock for the Strawberry and the background layer
Bo Bunny paper for the rounds under the berry
Country Life Cricut cartridge
Inkssentials Glossy Accents in black for berry seeds
outlined the "Sweet" font with Marvy 1122 Le Plume II marker

I ALWAYS look at a card after it's done and think about what I should have done differently to make it even more cute.  I'm not sure if it's because I never seem to have enough time to second guess myself as I go, or if I would ever be satisfied regardless!  I hope you like it though and don't forget to follow me!
=) Ricki

All Things Grow With Love......and RIDICULOUS amounts of rain if you live in Ohio!

I, for one have had enough April showers and am now ready for the May flowers!   So this card was done for one of Erica's challenges at http://www.facebook.com/#!/EricasCraftRoom last week.  The challenge was to create a project using only the features keys on the cartridge.  If you haven't connected with Erica, you should definitely do it asap and be sure to let her know Ricki sent you!   Also be sure to check out her blog and website from the links on her page.
I used
Cricut American Alphabet cartridge
Bo Bunny and DCWV papers
Martha Stewart adhesive backed ribbon
Glaze enamel pens
and a cute stamp from Hampton Arts for my sentiment.

I hope you like it, and as always, enter your email to subscribe and be sure to leave me a comment and follow me!  I hope everyone has a great beginning to their week!

You're the Best, Mom!

Happy belated Mothers Day to all the Mom's of furry, and not so furry kids...I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Did anyone get the new Cricut Expression 2 Fifth Anniversary Edition for Mothers Day?  If you have the new E2, please share what you love about it!
Here's a card I made for my Momma...
I used the Just A Note Cricut Cartridge that came preloaded on the E2
DCWV and kraft paper
Making Memories Blossom & Button jar in Mocha
and Martha Stewart adhesive backed ribbon.

This is only the ninth card I have created so if anyone out there is feeling so inclined to attempt to begin scrapbooking or cardmaking, just jump in head first and learn as you go.  The great part of creating is that it's all in what you like, and there is no "wrong or right".  Please share with your friends, and oh...I love comments!  ;)  Until next time, Thanks for looking!
